Jerome Opoku scores first Ghana goal against Uganda

Jerome Opoku scored his first-ever international goal for the Black Stars of Ghana in an international friendly match against Uganda.

He opened the scoring for Otto Addo’s side in the 6th minute with a header from a corner-kick taken by Jordan Ayew.

The Cranes of Uganda equalized through Steven Mukwala’s penalty after Fahad Bayo was fouled by Ebenezer Annan.

Jordan Ayew then restored the lead for the Black Stars with a well-converted penalty following a foul on Denis Odoi in the 27th minute.

Opoku’s return to the Black Stars under the newly appointed coach Otto Addo comes on the heels of his outstanding performances in the Turkish Super Lig with Istanbul Basaksehir.

The towering centre-back has had a remarkable debut season, scoring four goals and providing an assist in 20 league appearances.
