“We have someone we can look up to in the coming years” – Otto Addo hails Forson Amankwah’s performance against Nigeria

Following Ghana’s 2-1 defeat to Nigeria in an international friendly held in Morocco on Friday, head coach Otto Addo has showered praise on debutant Forson Amankwah for his standout performance.

Despite the loss, Addo expressed admiration for Amankwah’s display, labeling him as a young player with immense potential.

While Ghana conceded two early goals to Cyriel Dessers and Ademola Lookman, Amankwah’s debut showcased promise.

He acknowledged the young player’s solid positioning and ball control, noting that with more self-awareness, Amankwah could have scored himself in certain situations.

Nonetheless, Addo emphasized the impressiveness of Amankwah’s performance, particularly against a formidable Nigerian team.

Moreover, Addo commended Amankwah for his defensive contributions, underlining the promising future the young player holds for Ghanaian football.

“He was really, really good.

I mean he is a young guy, very good positioning, very firm on the ball and solid on the ball.

If he would be a little bit more self-conscious in certain situations he could have finished himself I think,” Addo remarked.

“But it’s really, really impressive for a young guy to step up against a strong Nigerian team and be so self-conscious with the ball, good positioning, also working hard defensively is really, really good.
