“We were a bit unlucky” – Otto Addo reflects on Ghana’s friendly defeat to Nigeria

Ghana’s coach, Otto Addo, has expressed his disappointment following his team’s defeat to Nigeria in an international friendly match.

The clash between the Black Stars and the Super Eagles took place at the Stade de Marrakesh in Morocco.

Despite Jordan Ayew converting a late penalty kick in the dying minutes of the game, Ghana ended up losing 2-1 after conceding goals in each half.

Speaking after the match, the 43-year-old coach voiced his frustrations, describing his team as being a bit unlucky.

But I think we were a bit unlucky with the way we conceded the first goal, as the ball hit the hand.

In the first half, they had the better chances, but in the second half, we really, really did well,” Addo explained.

He continued, “If you want to look at the positives, the performance in the second half with 10 men was commendable.

We controlled the game and were unlucky with our finishing.

However, their second goal proved decisive, as we were close to equalizing.

Overall, a draw would have been deserved, but as I said, we lost and now we have to focus on improving and moving forward.”

Looking ahead, the Black Stars are set to face the Cranes of Uganda on Tuesday at the same venue, with Otto Addo hoping to secure his first win since his reappointment.
