Joseph Paintsil applauds Genk fans despite missing out on league title

Ghana international Joseph Paintsil has thanked Genk fans for their unflinching support following his side’s failure to win the Belgium Jupiler title.

Genk lost the Belgium Jupiler Pro League to Royal Antwerp after giving away a lead in stoppage time.

They were on the verge of lifting the title with a 2-1 win but Toby Alderweireld scored in the closing stages of the game to change the story to bury Paintsil and Genk’s chances of finishing the season as champions.

Painstil, a former Tema Youth SC star, had a fantastic season with Genk, netting 14 goals and assisting 14 times in 30 Belgian Jupiler Pro League games.
