Sudan FA contacts former Ghana gaffer Kwesi Appiah to become new head coach

Sudanese Football Association are desperate to land former GHS coach, James Kwesi Appiah as new head coach for their national team, Sportsworldghana.com understands.

According to Oyerepa FM in Kumasi, the Sudanese FA are in advance talks with Ex-Black Stars gaffer to become the new head coach of the Sudanese senior men’s team.

Appiah was the head coach for the Black Stars team between 2012 and 2015 before Avraham Grant took over from him for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations tournament when Ghana lost the final to Ivory Coast on penalties.

He returned to the Black Stars coaching job in 2017 and was sacked in 2020 by Kurt Okraku-led administration following a shambolic performance at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt

He became the first Ghanaian coach to take the Black Stars team to a FIFA World Cup tournament when he qualified the team for the 2014 tournament in Brazil.

He was the head coach for the senior national team when they exited the CAF Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt at the round of 16 stages of the competition against Tunisia.

He has been out of work for a while after leaving his position as the Black Stars head coach but recently applied for the vacant Black Stars coaching job.
