Ayine lied; I’m not hiding – Former GIIF boss

Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) CEO, Solomon Asamoah has described claims that he is on the run as untrue.
The Attorney General, Dr Donomic Ayine while addressing the press on Monday, March 24, 2025 stated categorically that Solomon Asamoah was hiding in Senegal.
He said he was traced from South Africa after which he moved to Senegal.
“The CEO is hiding in Senegal. We tracked him first to South Africa, and now he is in Senegal. If he does not return, he will be tried in absentia,” Dr. Ayine stated.
The AG also linked Asamoah to the $2 million payment, saying it was made at the request of Prof. Ameyaw Ekumfi, the chairman of GIIF’s board, and Asamoah himself.
However, in a press statement, Solomon Asamoah described the allegation by the Attorney General as untrue.
Indicating that he will be available in the country to cooperate with the security agencies with their investigations.
He mentioned that he governed with integrity and ensured that GIIF became a profitable public institution under his watch.
