Arsenal are close to tying down Folarin Balogun on a new long-term deal.

Sportsmail understands Balogun is on the verge of agreeing a new contract to end months of uncertainty over his future.

Striker Balogun, 19, current contract is due to expire at the end of the season and his situation alerted a string of clubs at home and abroad.

Though he is set to extend his stay at Arsenal once a few final details are resolved, with Mikel Arteta managing to convince Balogun that he has a long-term future at the Emirates.

England under-20 striker Balogun is rated as one of the best young forwards in the country.

Prolific at youth level for the Gunners, Balogun has also shown his potential in his fleeting appearances for Arsenal’s first team, scoring twice in five substitute appearances.

He has also scored eight goals and set up two more in 16 appearances for Arsenal’s under-23s this season.
