An energy expert says most erratic power supply in major parts of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region are scheduled to take place in the evenings.

According to Kojo Opoku, peak times are most often in the evening as a result of power congestion or overload.

Speaking to Evans Mensah on Joy FM's Top Story, Mr Opoku, although unable to establish the precise time power supply would be cut, indicated that between 7 pm to 11 pm, some parts of Kumasi would be in darkness.

"[Between] 7 pm and I think 9 pm, or between 7 to 11 pm. In Ghana, normally our peaks are in the evenings so when everybody comes home, it happens around that time and it goes off when there is an overload," he said.

Already, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has stated that owing to some system challenges, parts of the Ashanti regional capital and its environs will experience intermittent power supply between now until it is resolved, hopefully by the end of the year.

Some of the affected areas are KMA, Asokwa, Oforikom, Ejisu, and other MMDAs close to Kumasi.

Managing Director for the ECG, Kwame Agyemang Budu indicated that mop-up work on the construction of 330kv transmission lines by GRIDCo would be completed in December.

Meanwhile, he revealed that government is replacing the multi-jointed cable from Anyomaso to Boadi and from Boadi to Kassi as part of its short term solutions.
