Ex-Chelsea star Didier Drogba submitted his candidacy to contest in next month next month's Ivory Coast Football Federation elections
He drew a large crowd to the secretariat on Saturday in Abidjan.
The 42-year-old is one of four candidates seeking the contest the top job on 5 September, 2020.
But he has passed the vetting process which should be completed in five days time.
The former African Footballer of the Year needs nominations from three of the 14 Ligue 1 clubs and two from the lower divisions.
Drogba must also have the endorsement of any of five special interest groups: coaches, doctors, current and former players and referees.
