Ghanaian sprinter Janet Amponsah has won her first individual medal on the continent after placing second in the final of the 2018 African Senior Athletics Championships.
Amponsah’s feat in Nigerian city of Asaba – where this year’s Championships are taking place – comes after making consecutive finals in the past two editions.
She placed 2nd in a time of 11.54 seconds behind Ivorian Marie-Josee Ta Lou, who is the world leader in 100m with 10.85s.
She, however, won Thursday’s final in 11.15s.
Another Ghanaian Hor Halutie missed out on a medal placing after finishing 4th with a time of 11.61s.
