Takoradi kidnapping: Missing girls dead, DNA test indicates - Police confirms

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that DNA results prove that the remains dug from the residence of the main suspect in the Takoradi kidnapping is that of the three missing girls.

The Acting- Inspector General of Police James Oppong-Boanuh confirmed at a press briefing.

The acting IGP of police also disclosed that the families of the 4 girls have been informed by the Police.

The acting IGP said: “A few minutes ago, officers of the Ghana Police service informed four families in Takoradi in the Western Region of Ghana that DNA test conducted on some human remains discovered into the course of police investigations into the disappearance 4 missing girls have turned positive, as the remains of the girls. The Ghana Police service has with regret informed the families that the remains of Ruth Abakah, Priscilla Kuranchie, Ruth Love Quayson, Priscilla Blessing Bentum.

“Investigations now establish that the girls were victims of a serial kidnapping and murdering syndicate that operated in the Takoradi area.”

The whereabouts of three of the missing Takoradi girls – Ruthlove Quayson, Priscilla Blessing Bentum and Priscilla Koranchie – who were kidnapped between August and December 2018 had become a mystery several months after the issue gained national prominence.

Several back and forth had gone on with the issue and the main suspect Samuel Udoetuk Willis has been in police custody for over five months.

He was jailed for 18 months for jailbreak and now that the girls have been confirmed dead, he could face another charge of murder.
