Head Coach of Ashantigold, Charles Kwabla Akunor has praised the fighting spirit of his players after a hard fought 1-0 victory over Dreams FC in Match Day 14 of the Zylofon Cash Premier League.

The miners were given stiff competition by the premier league returnees and it had to take until the 75th minute for Shafiu Mumuni to break the dead lock.

Following the victory on Wednesday, the miners returned to winning ways as they continue with their quest for the title. Coach C.K Akunor hailed the fighting spirit of his boys.

“I’m proud of the boys, they showed more than Dreams. They Pushed more. Just like when we played Dwarfs, In the second half Dwarfs showed more than us and showed they wanted to score. I think we dominated the second half and put a lot of pressure forcing them to make mistakes” Akunnor told the Media after the game.

“There was the need for us to go to the wings because they occupied the middle and we couldn’t do anything. We had to go the wings and finally we got the moment of magic by scoring a goal”

Dreams FC have had a fine record against the Obuasi lads having beaten them few season's ago and ahead of the game Akunor expected to turn the tide, which he did.

” I was aware of it, I once came here with Dreams FC and won by a goal to nil. But I told the boys Ashgold is not the same as today, so we have to show it on the field of play. It was a match of a lot scary moment. My players showed a lot of character and collectively we worked as a team. In all, we are very happy.”
