#NDCdecides: Elections Have Been Generally Peaceful, Violence Free - Asiedu Nketia
General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia says the flagbearer elections ongoing nationwide has been generally peaceful.

He says he has not recorded any form of violence or misunderstanding from any polling station across the country.

Speaking on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, the NDC Scribe explained that though he is in Nsawkaw in the Brong Ahafo region, he has been receiving reports from across the country and that everything is going on peacefully as planned.

"We are only hoping that everything will go on successfully as planned. All ground rules surrounding the elections still holds and we expect the police and the security agencies including all party officers to respect them as such to enable the elections enjoy the sanity it deserves," he said.

About 260,000 delegates across all 275 constituencies plus three specially-created polling stations are expected to cast their ballots.

Delegates include branch executives, constituency executives, regional executives; regional council of elders, MPs, former government appointees and founding members will have their say in Ghana’s most novel internal party primary.

Seven members of the party are vying for the single slot to battle the ruling New Patriotic Party in the 2020 elections.

Those contesting are: former president John Mahama, Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament Alban Kingsford Sumani Bagbin, former Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, former Vice Chancellor of University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof. Joshua Alabi.

Concluding the list are: former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Mr Sylvester Mensah, a cadre, Mr Goosie Tanoh and businessman, Alhaji Nurideen Iddrisu.
