Two people were killed Thursday night in Kumasi Kwadaso when a fence wall collapsed on them during a downpour.

According to Graphic Online's reporter, Donald Ato Dapatem, the deceased were a 74-year-old woman and her 7-year-old grandson and that the incident happened at the Nsiah Asare Electoral Area in Kwadaso.

He said the wall collapsed following hours of torrential rains in Kumasi

Identified as Mary Edusei Poku and Chris Adu Sarkodie, they were pronounced dead on arrival at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) around 1.30am Friday.

An eyewitness, Samuel Ofori Duah, aka Check Point, said they heard the 'big bang' during the rains around 11pm and when they checked, it was a concrete fence wall which separated the two buildings that collapsed.

He said the fence wall fell on the side of the building where the two were sleeping and killed them.

Personnel from the Police service, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and the Fire service rushed to the scene immediately word got to them.
