2024 Sharubutu Ramadan: Ashaiman Lifts Trophy; Finalists Receive 20000 Cedis Prize From Dr. Bawumia

Ashaiman defeated Anyaa Zongo by 2:0 on May Day to win a record third Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup at the Fadama astro turf in Accra.Prior to their triumph last night, Ashaiman and Kasoa were the only Zongo communities to have won the prestigious trophy twice since its inception in 2015 and with their record 3rd victory, Ashaiman gets to keep the trophy, organizers confirmed.Ashaiman continued in their invincible form they showed two weekends ago when they brushed off Tema Zongo, Nungua Zongo, Mamobi and Oda Zongo in the round of 16, quarter finals and semi-finals respectively.Anyaa Zongo also showed grit by defeating Nsawam Zongo, Shukura, Hohoe and Fadama to reach their first ever finals.The final was exciting with Ashaiman supporters trooping to the venue in large numbers amidst cheers from their community Chief and opinion leaders.Ashaiman grabbed two goals to confirm their superiority and the final whistle sparked wild celebrations from the team.Earlier in the day, hosts Fadama defeated Oda Zongo by a goal to nil to secure the third place and receive bronze medal.Bawumia's PackageVice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr.

Mahamudu Bawumia donated a sum of 20,000 cedis as the prize for the winners, second, third and fourth placed teams respectively.The spectators gave him a rapturous applause during announcement of his package.The Champions, Ashaiman, were rewarded a 10,000 cash prize, second-placed Anyaa Zongo went home with 5000, third-placed Fadama got 3000 and 4th placed Oda Zongo got 2000 from Dr.

Bawumia's prize package.Fadama's exciting youngsters, Abass Osman was adjudged the best player of the 9th edition of the Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup while Ashaiman's agile goalkeeper Abdul Latif won the best goalkeeper and Andul Razak, also of Ashaiman, became the top scorer.The final was attended by traditional leaders from the Zongo community, Imams, football administrators and thousands of youth.
