UPDATE: Land Guards Clash With Wood Sellers At Taifa Junction, Several Injured

A violent altercation between land guards and timber sellers at the Taifa intersection in Accra this morning has purportedly led to the fatality of one individual, while others have sustained injuries.Peace FM's correspondent, Bernard Ato Arthur reporting from the scene said the wood sellers were asked to vacate the property where they have been operating.

The landowner on Wednesday sent land guards to enforce the eviction but the sellers resisted and attacked the land guards. According to reports as the sellers vandalize vehicles of the land guards, the land guards fired shots to scare them away.

This incident caused huge traffic on the N6 Highway. In an update, some of the wood sellers who spoke to Peace FM reporter, Dasmani Abdulai said they recently paid ghc7000 as monthly rent and hence don't understand why they're being evicted.Eugenia Akwetey, the land owner who is currently in the USA, according to reports said she was no longer interested in the sellers occupying her land.Meanwhile, the injured have been taken to the 37 Military Hospital."But for the intervention of the police, a lot more people would have been injured" Dramani reported.
