UN Condemns Sexual Violence Against Sudan Women

The United Nations has condemned what it called rising sexual violence against women and girls in Sudan in more than two months of conflict.The UN human rights office in Sudan said it had received credible reports of more than 20 incidents of conflict-related sexual violence against at least 57 women and girls.It said that in one incident as many as 20 women were raped in the same attack.The UN's chief humanitarian official, Martin Griffiths, said it was unconscionable that Sudan's women and children were being traumatised in this way.
