Parliament Approves 2022 Budget After Majority Overturns 'Rejection'

The Majority in Parliament has rescinded an earlier decision from the Minority rejecting the 2022 Budget.

The First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei Owusu, sitting in for Alban Bagbin, during today's business of the House counted himself as an MP making the Majority Caucus in the House 138 members; enough to pass the 2022 Budget.

The Minority boycotted Tuesday's sitting after talks to reach a consensus reportedly failed.

Sources close to Peacefmonline.com indicate that the talks centered on the controversial E-levy. The Minority wanted the new levy scrapped but the Majority proposed a reduction; from 1.75 to 1.5%
