Harbour:

President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo has admitted that he made a mistake with his comments on the construction of a Harbour for the people of Cape Coast in the Central Region.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Peace FM’s 'kokrokoo' morning show, he noted that he couldn’t confer from the party’s manifesto but the actual plan was to build a landing site.

“I made a misteake . . . I will have to apologize to the people of Cape Coast," he apologized.

I never promised to build a harbour in Cape Coast” – President Akufo-Addo

Residents of Cape Coast who have been hoping for the construction of a new harbour since the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) won re-election in 2020 may be disappointed.

That infrastructure project, according to President Akufo-Addo, was never on the list of commitments presented to him for his second term.

“The commitment was never to a harbour; it was to a landing site,” he explained on Eagle FM in Cape Coast on Monday.

When asked about the status of a promise to build an airport and a port in Cape Coast, the President stated, “The commitment was never to (build) a port.” It led to a landing page. It is extremely important. And you read the NPP manifesto for the 2020 election on page 88. It’s crystal clear.”

He then went on to list landing site projects that the government had initiated in the Central region, going on to say that the party had promised to build similar landing sites rather than a harbour in Cape Coast.

“In terms of the harbour, we have to be clear in our minds; we never committed ourselves… I never stated that I intended to build a harbour in Cape Coast. “I said I was going to build a landing page, and that it would begin next year,” he explained.
