Teshie Fisherman Remanded For Snatching Mobile Phones
An Accra Circuit Court on Thursday remanded a 22-year-old fisherman, Seth Martey, into prison custody on two charges of robbery.

Seth was said to have robbed one Jackelyn Emefa Adablenu of her Nokia ‘5’ mobile phone worth GH¢710.00; and one Theodora Botchey of her ITEL 1531 mobile phone worth GH¢150.00.

Seth pleaded not guilty to the charges before the court presided over by Mr. Aboagye Tandoh, and has been remanded to reappear on May 3.

Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Kwabena Adu told the court that, the complainants, Jacklyn, is a Fire Service Personnel and Theodora is a student, both residing at Teshie, whilst the accused is a fisherman.

He said on April 16 at about 19:00 hours, Theodora and a witness in the case, Godfred Tawiah, were returning home and met the accused at Teshie Mobil.

Seth, without any provocation, forcibly snatched Theodora’s ITEL 1513 mobile phone and bolted.

The prosecution said as if that was not enough, on that same day at about 20:00 hours, the accused stood at the Teshie Mobil bus stop and monitored the movement of vehicles.

According to him, the accused spotted Jackelyn in the rear seat of a commercial vehicle having a conversation on her mobile phone.

He said Seth went behind the vehicle and snatched the Nokia ‘5’ mobile phone.

Mr. Adu said Jackelyn raised an alarm and the accused was arrested. A search conducted in his pocket revealed Jackelyn’s mobile phone.

He said Seth was handed over to the Teshie Police and in his caution statement, admitted having robbed Jackelyn but denied Theodora’s claim.
