Kofi Annan Deserves State Burial – Asiedu Nketia
General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has proposed that a state burial is held for the former United Nations Secretary-General, Kofi Annan.

According to Mr Nketia, it will show how the country appreciates his contribution to the development of the country and the world.

“Kofi Annan was a principled man who believed in the well-being of humans. His contribution was not only for Ghana but for the whole world and that made us special. So I believe it will be best if he is given a state burial,” he said on Accra-based Neat FM monitored by Adomonline.com.

Mr Kofi Annan passed on in Swiss Capital, Berne, on Saturday morning after a short illness.

Mr Nketia described Mr Annan as a representation of peace and someone who preached peace throughout his life and therefore Ghanaians must champion his legacy.

Paying tribute to the late Kofi Anan, the illustrious Ghanaian, and former UN secretary general, Mr Nketia described the Ghanaian diplomat, who was the seventh secretary-general as a great mentor who was an inspiration to many.
