LEAKED: Government Of Ghana Responds To FIFA’s Threat; Begs For Audience And MORE
The Government of Ghana in a leaked letter to threats by world football governing body, FIFA is asking for further engagement in order to resolve the impasse.

It would be recalled that FIFA in a letter on Monday, threatened to suspend Ghana from the federation if the government does withdraw the petition it filed in court to liquidate the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

According to FIFA, the introduction of the petition by the Attorney General at the high court constitutes an undue interference and influence in the affairs of the GFA.

A release issued by FIFA on the subject addressed to the liaison team for the GFA and Dr. Kofi Amoah, head of the liaison team stated in part “ Under the circumstances, the Bureau based on article 16 paragraph 1 of the FIFA statutes decided on 11th August 2018 that if the petition to start the liquidation process of the GFA is not withdrawn by Monday 27 August 2018 at 12h00 (CET), the GFA will be suspended with immediate effect. The suspension would be lifted only once the above-mentioned petition is withdrawn and FIFA is given written proof thereof

Basically, the GoG has asked for a further engagement with FIFA at their earliest convenience to “reach a mutually accepted route” to resolving the impasse.

No mention of withdrawing the liquidation court case has been stated in the leaked letter.
