The Public Relations Officer of the Police Hospital, Chief Inspector Faustina Nunekpeku, has disclosed that close to ten abandoned babies are brought to the hospital each year.

In an interview with GhanaWeb's video journalist, Kwame Adzaho-Amenortor, she attributed these cases to teenage pregnancy, poverty and incest.

He advised parents to pay attention to their daughters to help prevent teenage pregnancy. "In a year, we receive at least 8 to 10 cases, not just babies but also children as young as six months or one-year-old that have been abandoned," she noted.

In a recent case, a newborn baby girl was found at Shiashie on Saturday, September 28, 2024, and is currently receiving treatment at the Police Hospital.
