Fishery Scientist and Aquatic Ecologist,  Prof.

RoseEmma Entsua-Mensah  has revealed that the fish in the water sources are all gone because of the illegal mining activities otherwise known as galamsey Prof RoseEmma stated that most of the Lagoons which are the interface of the seas and the lands have dried up and have been turned into dumping sites.

According to her, these lagoons are breeding sites for fishes to nurse their fingerlings and then go back to the sea. "Most of these species of fish use this lagoon and about 40% of these species are gone.

Also with farming, most farmers use this water to irrigate their plants and also use the water for other personal purposes." She disclosed Professor RoseEmma Entsua-Mensah further explained that they are the only species that survive in the water bodies in Ghana, explaining that the only fishes that survive in hard times are mad fishes and catfishes.
