President has urged journalists to be circumspect and vigilant in their reporting, especially as Ghana heads to the polls in December.

In a speech delivered at the 28th Ghana Journalists Association Awards in Accra on September 28, 2024, President Akufo-Addo emphasised the need for journalists to combat the spread of misinformation, which he believes could undermine electoral processes.

The president further called on all journalists in the country to prioritise factual reporting and truth over sensationalism as they play a critical role in shaping democracy and governance. "Every four years, Ghanaians go to the polls to choose their leaders, and in that process, the media plays an indispensable role.

It's through your work that citizens are informed about the policies of political parties, the integrity of candidates, and the issues that matter most to their lives. "The responsibility of the media during elections cannot be overstated.
