The flagbearer of the People's National Convention, , has criticized the for their decision to designate the Jubilee House and other areas as security zones in the country.
Speaking about the arrest of Democracy Hub protesters against illegal mining activities on JoyNews Newsfile on Saturday, September 28, 2024, challenged the police to cite any existing law that designates a place as a security zone, prohibiting people from entering such areas. "Which one is the law that in this country, there is a law that in this country that says that 'there is a place that is security zone and that we should not go there' which law is that?." According to him, the police are setting a dangerous precedent by making decisions that prevent protesters from accessing certain areas and employing fear tactics to intimidate citizens.
He believes that the actions of the police could backfire when citizens overcome their tactics.
He cautioned the police saying "Let the police not become a law unto themselves, and let them not try to use fear and panic in a peaceful society.
