President Akufo-Addo has called on journalists to be vigilant in their reporting, urging them to avoid spreading misinformation that could jeopardize the integrity of the upcoming electoral process.
According to him, journalists are the gatekeepers of truth and must prioritise factual reporting over sensationalism.
Speaking at the 28th Ghana Journalists Association's (GJA) Media Awards and 75th anniversary in Accra on September 28, he stated that journalists play a crucial role in ensuring a fair and transparent election in 2024.
While acknowledging the media's valuable contributions in past elections, he warned against the dangers posed by fake news and sensationalism in today's digital age, where misinformation can quickly spread and distort the democratic process. "Every four years, Ghanaians go to the polls to choose their leaders, and in that process, the media plays an indispensable role.
