Bolgatanga East lawmaker, Dr Dominic Ayine, has said there is a legitimate concern about the impact of illegal small-scale mining popularly known as galamsey.
In expressing these concerns, he said, people will hit the streets to protest. "There is a legitimate concern and when people have a legitimate concern they will hit the streets," the Former Deputy Attorney-General said on the Key Points on TV3 Saturday, September 28 when commenting on the arrest of the Democracy Hub protesters.
The state preferred 8 counts of offenses including offensive conduct to the breach of peace and stealing to to some of the protesters.
An Accra Circuit Court remanded leading members of Democracy Hub, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, Felicity Nelson, and 11 others into Police custody for two weeks.
