Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has condemned the Police for not allowing lawyers and relatives of the Democracy Hub protesters who were arrested for allegedly blocking roads and taking the key of the Police car, to access them.

This, in his view,  is a violation of the Constitution.

He said that it does not make sense to keep the Democracy Hub protesters who were arrested for allegedly blocking roads and taking the key of the Police car, for two weeks in prison custody. "What the Police did constitutes a great violation of our constitution, police arresting the suspects without allowing lawyers and relatives to access them is a violation of their rights because you need a lawyer in there from Day One. "Arresting the suspects who allegedly blocked roads and took keys and keeping them in cells for two weeks, it didn't make sense," he said on the Key Points on TV3 on Saturday, September 28.

The state preferred 8 counts of offenses including offensive conduct to the breach of peace and stealing to to some of the proetsres.
