Seasoned Ghanaian actor Adjetey Annan has voiced his deep concern regarding the alarming state of the country's water bodies, heavily impacted by illegal mining activities, popularly known as galamsey.
In an exclusive interview with AJ Sarpong on 3FM, the actor revealed that he was particularly moved after watching videos produced by TV3's Berla Mundi, which showcased the devastating pollution of rivers and streams. "The first time I saw the video on TV3, I believe it was Berla Mundi covering the state of our water bodies, it was heartbreaking," emphasizing that the entire country, including its leaders and citizens, should have recognized the severity of the situation earlier.
Unfortunately, he noted, many remained unconcerned as the crisis unfolded. The thespian, also known as 'Pusher' called for urgent action to address the environmental menace, asserting that it is time for the nation to "make noise" about the issue since the lives of citizens are at stake.
He further expressed his support for any initiatives, including peaceful demonstrations, aimed at drawing attention to the dangers posed by galamsey and other pressing issues facing the country.
