A Private legal practitioner and member of the Movement for Change, Andrew Appiah-Danquah has told Ghanaians that they have a right under the laws to stage demonstrations in Ghana.
However, he said the right to protest does not guarantee them the freedom to destroy property.
You have the right to demonstrate under the law but you don't have the right to destroy properties, I heard they defaced properties and other properties, he said. "I heard one of them even tried to remove the car key of the Police vehicle," he said. "Galamsey is already outlawed so why call for a ban on galamsey?
The protesters should have called for the resignation of the president for sleeping on the job, not galamsey," he said on the Big Issue on TV3 on Friday, September 27.
