MTN Ghana has come under fire on social media following reports the company donated GHC15,000 to the Dagbon Kingdom as part of its contributions to this year's Damba Festival.  Social media users expressed surprise about the how little they thought the amount was.  Social media users expressed disappointment in the telco giant with many using unprintable language.

The telecom giant also provided airtime worth GHC2,000 and some assorted drinks and bottled water to support the 2024 Damba.  The presentation was made by Kwami Aseye Akude, MTN regional manager for the Northern Regions.  "Festivals like Damba reveal a lot about our society and bring out the best in us as African people," Akude is quoted to have said during the presentations.  "MTN, being an African company, places great value on the traditions and heritage of our people, and that's why we continue to support these celebrations across the country." "We are hopeful that our small token will go a long way to enrich the celebration and ensure its success." He added.  "We are using this platform to educate our customers about mobile money fraud, which has been affecting a number of our users.

This will be one of the ongoing activities throughout the festival," Akude explained.
