Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Vice Presidential Candidate of the NPP has urged the people of Obuasi to vote massively for the NPP in the upcoming December elections. "You should not vote against the NPP if you have Obuasi at Heart", Dr Prempeh told the people at a campaign rally at Obuasi.

He said the NPP government led by President Akufo Addo, had done a lot for the people of Obuasi.

He cited the rebirth of AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine, the opening of KNUST Obuasi campus, the rehabilitation of Obuasi roads, as well as the construction of Agenda 111 hospital in Obuasi East and the construction of the Accident and Trauma hospital, as some of the key interventions by the NPP government that had helped developed and improve the living conditions of the people in the area, in the last seven years. "You will agree with me that when we came to power, Obuasi was almost a ghost town, AGA had collapsed, your roads were in deplorable state and the economy of Obuasi was down but through the intervention of the government, Obuasi is back on its feet", he stated.

He said the NPP government had always prioritized the development of Obuasi and there was the need for the people to reciprocate this by voting massively for the party to continue to implement initiatives that would help speed up the development and transformation of the Obuasi enclave.
