The Ghana Police Service has denied reports that it is refusing medical treatment to Oliver Barker-Vormawor, one of the leaders of the Democratic Hub it arrested over the hub's anti-galamsey demonstration held from September 21 to September 23, 2024.

In a statement sighted by GhanaWeb, the police indicated that Barker-Vormawor, who fell ill on September 24, 2024, is on admission at the Police Hospital in Accra.

The police also indicated that Barker-Vormawor is one of two suspects of the Democracy Hub demonstration it arrested, who are currently receiving treatment after health complaints. "Suspect Fanny Otoo, on Tuesday 24th September 2024, complained to the Police that he was indisposed, as the suspects in the case were being prepared for court.

The Police sent him to the Police Hospital in Accra, where doctors at the hospital attended to him and later admitted him for further treatment. "Suspect Oliver Barker-Vormawor was also taken to the Police Hospital for medical attention, having reported sick late last night, Tuesday 24th September 2024, where doctors assessed his condition and subsequently admitted him for treatment," parts of the police statement read.
