The has indicated that the Office of the Attorney-General has taken direct responsibility for the prosecution of some 39 individuals arrested during the protest organised by Democracy Hub from Saturday, September 21 to Monday, September 23, 2024.

According to the police who presented some of the suspects in court on Tuesday, the suspects were arrested for engaging in various acts of lawlessness at the 37 Intersection in Accra.

In a statement on Tuesday evening, the police indicated that the court had granted a remand request against all 39 suspects presented on Tuesday. "The court remanded 28 of them into police custody and the remaining 11 into prison custody.

Thirty of the accused persons are to reappear before the court on 8th October 2024, while 9 others are to appear on the 11th October. "The remaining suspects will be put before the court to face justice.
