Joyce Ampofo, the Market Queen at Swedru's Mandela Market, has called on Cynthia Morrison, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Agona West, to reconsider her decision to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming general elections.
Her comment comes after the former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, announced her decision to contest as an independent candidate after she lost the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries, receiving 152 votes, while Christopher Arthur won the nomination with 240 votes.
Speaking on The Constituency on Channel One TV, Madam Ampofo acknowledged that the MP, Cynthia Morisson, has contributed to the community but urged her to support the party's chosen candidate for the sake of unity. "Our MP, Cynthia, has done a lot for us, and we are grateful.
However, since the party has chosen someone else to represent us, I'm urging her to support him.
