The operation is from September 21 to 24, 2024, and will affect several major routes in the city.This was contained in a statement signed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs.ROAD BLOCKS AND DIVERSIONS AS PART OF POLICE SPECIAL OPERATION IN PARTS OF ACCRAAs part of Police Special Operations in Accra, the following routes would be blocked and diverted from 21st to 24th September 2024, as follows;Traffic from CBD to Independence Avenue linking up to the Liberation Road would be blocked at AU Roundabout.Traffic from AU Roundabout will turn at the Castle Road to the Ridge Roundabout to the Kanda Highway, through to Gold House Traffic Light (Kawukudi).
Alternatively, from the AU Roundabout to the Castle Road link up with the Lokko Street, and link up to the Independence Avenue to Labone and beyond.From the AU Roundabout, traffic will turn right towards the Second Avenue (GIJ), to the Ring Road Central, in front of the Police Headquarters to the Dankwa Circle, through the Cantonments Road to the Ghana International School and along the Second Circular Road to Giffard Road (El-Wak traffic light) and beyond.Traffic from Madina direction to Accra will terminate at 37 Roundabout and be diverted as follows: Obasanjo Highway to Gold House Traffic Light and turn unto the Dr.
Liman Highway (Kanda Highway), to the Ridge Roundabout to the Castle Road to Accra Central Business District.Traffic from 37 Roundabout will be diverted to turn at Giffard Road (Burma Camp Road) to link up with the Second Circular Road in front of the Ghana International School to the Cantonments Road towards Dankwa Circle.Alternatively, motorists can go through the Giffard Road, towards Trade Fair and join the Beach Road towards the Central Business District.The Presidential Drive (behind TV3) would be blocked at the Kanda Post Office Junction.
Liman Highway (KandaHighway) to access alternative routes.Traffic will turn right to the Obasanjo Highway to Gold House Traffic Light to Dr.Liman Highway and beyond.The road in front of the Prudential Bank will be blocked from the Ring Road towards TV3.
Police Officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) will be deployed at vantage points to assist motorists with the traffic diversions.We urge pedestrians to avoid using the stretch from the AU Roundabout to 37 Roundabout.
