The Ghana Police Service had earlier declared Barker-Vormawor wanted for his role in the protests on September 21-22.
According to a police statement, his arrest stems from "various unlawful acts" that occurred at the 37 Intersection in Accra, where the protest unfolded.
This development follows the arrest of two additional protesters from the Democracy Hub earlier on the same day.
These protesters had stood near the 37 Lorry Station for over an hour before boldly stepping forward to confront police officers with placards decrying illegal mining, a central issue in the ongoing protests.
The men defiantly stated, "You can arrest more of us, but even if only two of us remain, we will stand up against illegal mining." Their arrest brings the total number of detained protesters during the three-day demonstration to 44, highlighting the growing tensions between protesters and law enforcement as the group continues to push back against illegal mining activities in the country.
