The Akwamu Traditional Area in the Eastern Region marked its 2024 Akwasidae Kese celebration alongside the 60th anniversary of the enstoolment of their Queen Mother, Nana Afrakoma II, in a grand three-day event.

The celebration, which took place from Friday, September 13, to Sunday, September 15, 2024, was held at the forecourt of the Bogyawe Palace in Akwamufie.

Nana Afrakoma II, the event's host, arrived in a stunning gold-and-white electric horseless carriage.

As she was driven through the crowd to her seat at the palace, she was met with cheers from her people, who gathered in large numbers to celebrate her six decades of leadership.

The event attracted a host of dignitaries, including President , former President John Agyekum Kufuor, and Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, the wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, along with their children.
