Kingsley Amoakwa Boadu, a member of the Legal Team Directorate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has downplayed the significance of ballot position in determining the outcome of elections.
According to him, it is the work and track record of a political party that will influence voters, not their position on the ballot paper.
Speaking on The Big Issue on Channel One TV, Boadu explained that while ballot positions may be useful for marketing purposes, they are not a deciding factor in winning elections. "The position on the ballot paper does not mean anything, it is your good works that will promote you.
it is your good works that will make people consider voting for you.
So, anything that has to do with number one or number eight is for marketing purposes," he stated.
He acknowledged that it might be easier to market the first position on the ballot, especially for both parliamentary and presidential elections.
However, he noted that the NDC's eighth position, coupled with the presence of independent candidates in some areas, presents a different dynamic.
He further stated that the NDC should not see their ballot position as a disadvantage. "Admittedly, it is easier to market number one for both parliamentary and presidential, but for the NDC's number 8 where you have the independent candidate not standing for parliamentary office in some areas, it changes.
So, I can see the fact that we have to be creative in that regard," he stated. "He continued: "So, I don't see their problem because they can create something that will direct their followers to vote for their candidates.
So it is so easy to do that.
So, it is much I do about nothing."
