The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr.

Mahamudu Bawumia, has laid out a comprehensive plan to resolve chieftaincy disputes across the country should he be elected as president in the upcoming elections.

Speaking during his campaign in the Twifo Atti Morkwa constituency in the Central Region, Dr.

Bawumia highlighted that many of these disputes stem from succession-related issues.

To address this, his government would collaborate with the Judicial Council and the National House of Chiefs to codify clear lines of succession for all chiefs nationwide.

Dr.

Bawumia emphasized that this initiative would not only help resolve conflicts but also enhance the productivity of the chieftaincy institution, contributing to national unity and development. "There a lot of disputes as far as chieftaincy is concerned and it disturbs peace.

So, we have to work together with the judicial council and the National House of Chiefs to codify all the lines of succession to all the stools in Ghana and we will digitalise all of them. "This will help everybody to know the next person in line to rule as chief.

This will reduce the number of chieftency-related disputes " he stated.
