The Electoral Commission (EC) has officially confirmed 13 candidates who have successfully qualified to contest in the upcoming December 7, 2024, presidential elections.

Among the candidates are prominent figures such as Vice President Dr.

Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), former President John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and independent candidates like business magnate Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar.

This announcement was made in a communiqué issued by the EC on Friday, September 20, 2024, following a detailed examination of Nomination Forms submitted during the Filing of Nominations from September 9 to September 13, 2024.

The EC reviewed the documents to ensure all candidates met the legal requirements to run for the highest office in the land.

Among them are Bernard Mornah of the People's National Convention (PNC) and Janet Nabla of the People's National Party (PNP).

Other disqualified candidates include: Nana Stephens Adjepong Paul Perkoh James Kwesi Oppong John Enyonam Kwakwu Kpikpi Dr.

Samuel Sampong Ankrah Nii Amu Darko Samuel Apea-Danquah Desmond Abrefah Kofi Asamoah Siaw (Progressive People's Party) The EC reassured the public that the process was conducted with transparency and in accordance with the law.

The disqualified candidates either failed to submit complete documentation or did not meet other essential legal requirements.

The upcoming election is expected to be a highly competitive race with both well-established political figures and independent candidates vying for the presidency.
