Richard Ahiagbah, Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has underscored the importance of public involvement in supporting the National Road Safety Authority's (NRSA) efforts to improve road safety nationwide.

Ahiagbah's call comes in the wake of his serious accident on the Accra-Kumasi highway on July 27, 2024, around 1:30 am near Aduapompo, when his vehicle collided with a parked articulated truck while en route to a scheduled programme in Kumasi.

In an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Face to Face on Channel One TV, Ahiagbah highlighted the urgent need for increased advocacy and community participation in addressing the pressing issue of road safety.

He emphasised that public awareness and collective action are critical in reducing road accidents and saving lives. "There is a lot of advocacy that is necessary," he stated.

Reflecting on his personal experience, Ahiagbah shared that after his return from the hospital, he had a candid discussion with the leadership of the NRSA. "We had a very frank conversation about what needs to be done, what their efforts are, and what their challenges are," Ahiagbah recounted.

He highlighted the importance of a collaborative approach, noting that both the NRSA and the general public must work together to achieve meaningful progress. "We've agreed that there should be some partnership from the larger population in support of what they're doing," he added.
