The Electoral Commission (EC) has assured the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that its doors remain open for further engagement on all issues about the 2024 voter register.
The NDC raised concerns when it was furnished with the provisional voters register and organised a protest dubbed 'Enough is Enough' on Tuesday, September 17 to compel the EC to conduct a forensic audit on the voter register The leadership of the NDC, among other things, alleged that there are over 243,000 illegal names on the list of transferred voters.
A formal petition calling for a forensic audit was submitted by the NDC's National Chairman, John Asiedu Nketia, at the EC's head office during the 'Enough is Enough' protest.
The EC assured the NDC of its continuous engagement to improve the voter register ahead of the December 7 general elections.
Deputy Chairman in charge of operations at the EC, Samuel Tettey, in a signed statement said, "We assure the NDC and all stakeholders of our avowed commitment to delivering a credible and robust final register ahead of the December 2024 elections." Below is the EC's statement.
