The Coalition of NABCO Trainees has urgently called upon the National Peace Council to step in and address an unresolved issue regarding unpaid allowances dating back to 2021.
Representing numerous frustrated individuals, the group is growing increasingly concerned over the ongoing delay in payment, warning that they will resort to a mass demonstration at Jubilee House if the issue remains unaddressed.
This protest is planned for one week before the upcoming national elections.
In a formal petition sent to the National Peace Council, the coalition outlined how the unpaid arrears have impacted the livelihoods of trainees, further warning of the broader national security implications.
They stressed that despite multiple petitions to the Office of the President and various ministries, no resolution has been reached.
As such, they feel compelled to escalate their actions.
The coalition sees the National Peace Council's intervention as vital, not just for resolving their financial woes, but for maintaining peace during the sensitive election period.
They have urged the council to engage directly with the President in hopes of speeding up the resolution of their arrears.
Patience, they said, is running out, and immediate government action is necessary to prevent unrest.
David Peterson, the lead organiser, along with representatives such as Nana Tachie Eric, Deborah Enam Sogbey, and Nana Berimah Asamoah, were among the signatories of the petition.
They are optimistic that the Peace Council's involvement could help stabilize the situation and ensure that the upcoming elections proceed peacefully.
