Residents of Ledzokuku in the Greater Accra Region have voiced their frustration over the worsening condition of road infrastructure in the constituency.
According to the residents, the poor state of the roads has become a significant inconvenience, disrupting transportation, increasing vehicle maintenance costs, and posing serious safety risks to both motorists and pedestrians.
Speaking to Philip Nii Lartey on Channel One TV's The Constituency, several residents expressed their disappointment with local authorities for neglecting their repeated appeals for road repairs.
They highlighted that many roads in the area are filled with potholes, with some becoming completely impassable, especially during the rainy season.
When asked whether the road issues would influence their voting decisions in the upcoming elections, residents expressed mixed views.
Some stated they would vote based on the developmental projects completed in the area, while others maintained that fixing the roads is a basic responsibility of any government in power and should not influence their vote.
A taxi driver by the name of Francis Atittey said: "Our roads are not good.
From Bush roads to Tebibiano is bad, it is a rough road and we have 'big' men in this area.
We have the CDS (Chief of Defense Staff), Dr Mensa Otabil has his headquarters over there so we need a better road for this area," he stated.
The Chairman of the Lascala Taxi Rank, Richard Ayittey also said "It is about Teshie-Ledzokuku internal roads.
The inner roads are very bad.
We have complained and talked about it but there hasn't been any answer.
It was in recent times that we are seeing that the inner roads are being fixed, they are working on them now.
At first, from Abotsanya to Twibleo the road is very bad.
But now by His grace work is ongoing to address them," he stated.
Vitus Fianu, another taxi driver, echoed similar concerns, stating: "The road is not bad, it is terrible.
If you ask them why are they not fixing it, they will not come forward and tell you exactly what the problem is," he stated. "As my chairman said, two or three roads are being worked on but that particular one is a very important link that if completed, the whole Teshie will open up and that is what I am expecting them to do.
We only want clear-cut development of where we stay and that is Teshie.
So, if you say I like Ayiku or Okoe Boye and they come and they don't do anything, at the end of the day we are back to zero. "One thing with the African government is continuity, when NDC gets out, there are a lot of projects powerful ones which this present government can continue but what has happened is they are all in the bush right now, they want to do their to claim that this is ours," he stated.
A resident of Ledzokuku, James Buckle said: "For me, I won't say you have done this and because of that I should vote for you, it is your duty.
You have been elected into a position, play your role, it is as simple as that.
You do not need somebody to come and tell you I must vote for him before you start your duties.
Whatever position you have been put in please make sure you do the right thing."
