The Ghana Police Service has denied a shooting incident at the office of the Electoral Commission in Kumasi.

It added, that no demonstrator had been injured by the Police.

This comes on the back of media reports indicating that police fired teargas on supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kumasi who were protesting against the Electoral Commission (EC) over their concerns about the voter register.

However, according to a statement by the police, some demonstrators who went against the agreed security arrangement by forcing their way into the compound of the EC office were restrained. "We would like to take this opportunity to urge the media to be circumspect in their reportage," the police stated.

Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC, Dr Frank Amoakohene, insisted the party captured evidence of some protesters who have sustained injuries despite the police denial of the issue. "You don't go around shooting at people when you [reference to the police] have breached the agreement.

They are not denying that and we have given them evidence.

We brought our own cameramen, we brought our own media people to come and cover and capture everything that happens and we have handed everything over to them.

So, they can't deny," stated also.
