Former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged party supporters and the general public to participate in the party's planned nationwide demonstration against the Electoral Commission (EC) on Tuesday.

During a mini rally held at Amanfro Park in the Ga South Municipality, as part of his Greater Accra regional tour, Mahama emphasized the need to pressure the EC to ensure transparency in the upcoming elections.

He highlighted the NDC's call for a forensic audit of the electoral process to maintain credibility. "The only way to get the EC to sit up is to put pressure on them, and that is why on Tuesday, you must all join the demonstrations across the country.

It's not only for NDC people but for all Ghanaians," Mr.

Mahama said.

The NDC has expressed concerns over the EC's preparedness for the upcoming elections, citing issues with voter registration and a lack of transparency in the commission's reforms.

Despite repeated calls for a forensic audit, the EC has resisted such demands.

Last week, after submitting Mahama's nomination forms to the EC, NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah reiterated the party's concerns. "We have serious concerns about the process so far, and I believe we are engaging.

The purpose of the engagement is to reach mutual conclusions acceptable to everyone," Nketiah said. "We are not willing to give up our rights heading into these elections.

We are hopeful that the commission will listen to us and discharge their responsibilities in a way that will satisfy all participating parties."
