The Black Stars of Ghana have finished the September international break with a three-point lead in Group I following a narrow 1-0 win against the Eagles of Mali.

Ghana hosted Mali on Monday night in a crucial Round 8 fixture in the African qualifiers for next year's World Cup.

In a game played at Accra Sports Stadium, the Black Stars went into the match under pressure to win, especially after a disappointing draw against Chad last week.

With Thomas Partey and Alexander Djiku returning to the starting eleven for the Black Stars, it made the team stronger and improved the chances of a win.
