Almost two years after the Akosombo Dam spillage disaster that massively affected many persons along the Volta Lake from North Tongu to Ada and parts of Anloga in the Volta Region, the National Disaster Management Organisatuon (NADMO), Ada, has undertaken a massive educational drive in all the affected communities on the island.
Pediatorkopey, Alorkpem, Alorwusodekope, Azizakpey and Tuenyanikofe were the communities to benefit as the government agency educated the Islanders on how to prevent any future spillages.
Under the presidency and leadership of John Dramani Mahama, all NADMO offices have been tasked to list details of all persons who lost their properties and families as a result of the spillage, in order to share their experiences to prescribe preventive measures for future occurence of such man-made disasters.
Although no proper settlement and compensations have been provided to the affected, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama's regime, through NADMO has initiated a detailed relief, aid and educational programme to sensitise the islanders on water disasters and how to prevent any future occurences.
